'Cott V' Crew Claims Second at State Titles

Sunday, 28th February 2010

Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club's 'Cott V' crew claimed second place in the reserves division being pipped to the line by the City of Perth crew at the Surf Lifesaving Navy Series State Titles held on the crystalline blue waters of Secret Harbour.

Alex Davies the crew's stoke said: "There was a howling easterly and no swell which are not our ideal conditions. These conditions favour the heavier more powerful crews. We prefer it when it's like a washing machine out there with some surf to make it interesting but none the less the City of Perth crew rowed extremely well and although it was pretty much neck and neck the whole way they were just better than us on the day."

David Vitale former stroke for the Cott V crew was unable to row due to injury. Cottesloe’s open mens crew ‘The Challengers’ claimed 3rd beaten by Scarborough 1st and North Cottesloe 2nd. Stuart MacKinnon stroke of The Challengers said he was proud of his boys as they rowed well and gave it all they had.
